Privacy Statement

This is the Students for Herd Immunity's Privacy Statement. This Privacy Statement governs the collection, use and disclosure of Personal Information collected whenever you interact with us, including when you engage in any of our health promotion programs and services (“the Programs”), and when you visit and use our Students for Herd Immunity website (“the Website”).

This Privacy Statement explains the purpose for collecting Personal Information from you and the steps we take to secure that Personal Information. This Privacy Statement also explains how we can be contacted if a question arises about our privacy practices.

Students for Herd Immunity understands and is committed to protecting your Personal Information.  Students for Herd Immunity is based in Canada and complies with applicable privacy laws. Students for Herd Immunity will always exercise due diligence in the collection, use, disclosure, storage, and retention of Personal Information in the provision of the Programs.

Students for Herd Immunity will continue to review this Privacy Statement to ensure it remains current with changing laws and regulations while meeting the evolving needs of the Programs and Website. In the event of any amendment to the Privacy Statement, a notice will be posted within this page.  If you continue to use the Website or the Programs following an amendment to the Privacy Statement, you will be deemed to have consented to the updated Privacy Statement.

In this Privacy Statement, the terms "we", "our" and "us" refer to the Students for Herd Immunity. The terms "you", "user", and "your" refer to a user of the Website, a Program participant, and anyone who contacts us. If a Program participant is under age 18, consent of their legal guardian is required before any Personal Information of the minor may be sent to us.  Neither the Programs nor the Website are directed at children under age 13.

Collection and Use of Personal Information

For the purposes of this Privacy Statement, the following terms will have the following meanings:

“Business Contact Information” means your business position, name or title, business address, business telephone number, business email address, and business fax number.

“Personal Information” means information about an identifiable individual but does not include "Business Contact Information" or general, statistical, or aggregated information that does not allow for the direct identification of an individual. Personal Information includes name, email address, school name, school location, and phone number, and images or photographs of an identifiable individual.

Our purpose is to promote the uptake of vaccine education through a health promotion and resource program for teachers, parents, and students. The Website provides opportunities for students, parents, and teachers to learn more about vaccines and for students to join the Programs, including the Ambassador Program, designed to train students to be health advocates in their own communities and tackle vaccine hesitancy at a grassroots level. Students learn about the basic science of vaccines, the problem of vaccine hesitancy, the social factors underlying vaccine hesitancy in marginalized communities, and key presentation skills.

Students for Herd Immunity limits the information we collect about you to what we need for the provision of the Programs and for internal business purposes only. These purposes include:

  • To review and verify your application for the Programs

  • To share contact information with volunteers, for the purpose of providing the Programs

  • To provide you support by means of e-mail, web, or telephone

  • For outreach initiatives, including updating our Website and posting on our social media accounts, solely for the purpose of furthering our mission statement

  • To prevent, detect, and investigate potentially prohibited or illegal activities, fraud, complaints and security breaches

  • To manage the Programs, including volunteer or employee training, dispute resolution, and legal compliance

  • To contact you to inquire about the Programs, notify you of opportunities that may be of interest, or share updates and developments with you. Specifically, Students for Herd Immunity will send out information through our mailing lists if you register on the Website. This information most often includes new opportunities for students, teachers, and parents interested in learning more about vaccines and immunization programs. Students for Herd Immunity may also occasionally send out surveys through our mailing lists. These surveys are primarily for our own evaluation purposes, to help us better understand how we can improve our programming and resources. Results from these surveys will only be used for internal analysis and reporting of these results to external sources will always be in aggregate and anonymous.

We will first obtain your consent if we wish to use your Personal Information for any other purpose.  You are free to withdraw consent for use of your Personal Information at any time by unsubscribing from our email lists and/or by contacting us at info@studentsforherdimmunity.com.
